Fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker does high fashion take on Minnie Mouse

With quirky fashionista Carrie Bradshaw for an alter ego, she's never one to do things by halves where her sense of style is concerned. And Sarah Jessica Parker did not disappoint on Wednesday, lighting up Barneys in New York by wearing a pair of lace designer Mickey Mouse ears complete with netting. The cute creation had been custom designed for the Sex and the City star by fashion designer L'Wren Scott.

She teamed them with one of her black, long sleeved shift dresses that accentuated her petite frame as she attended the launch of Walt Disney's Electric Holiday window display at the department store in midtown Manhattan. And the 47-year-old, who has three children, was certainly enjoying herself at the event, taking to the stage to dance with a dressed up Minnie Mouse. The actress also stars in a short Disney film, Electric Holiday, which will be shown at Barneys' Madison Avenue store in New York. Other celebrities including Naomi Campbell and Lady Gaga wiil also appear in the movie.

The ears headband is a brave look not for the faint hearted. But it's a trend that regularly rears its head in the showbiz world. Paris Hilton sparked the celebrity craze back in 2006, when she stepped out in a pair of black bunny ears. And Khloe Kardashian soon caught on, stepping out for a premiere in a pink and white version. True to her quirky style, Katy Perry opted for a feline pair to launch her fragrane 'Purr' more recently, and Poppy Delevingne looked stunning in a black pair earlier this year. It was fitting that Sarah chose L'Wren Scott to design her version – the pair are good friends and the actress often models her designs on the red carpet.

They even attended the 29th Annual Night of Stars together last month. Dressed in one of L'Wren Scott's colourful creations, it was clear that Sarah has a lot of respect for the renowned fashion designer – in fact you could even say she looks up to her. Wearing a rainbow coloured dress, complete with matching coat and bag, Sarah was on hand to present the coveted Lord and Taylor Oracle award to L'Wren, who has been dating rock legend Mick Jagger since 2001. When the pair posed for photos, they made light of their height difference – Sarah stands at 5ft 3in to L'Wren’s statuesque 6ft 5in.
