Victoria Beckham oversees building work on her London shop

Victoria Beckham donned her hard hat and high visibility jacket on Friday as she checked up on the building work at her London store.

In spite of her unstylish outfit, fashion designer Victoria couldn't resist taking several group snapshots of the occasion and joking about her uncharacteristic clothing.

"Busy morning at Victoria Beckham Dover St," tweeted the mum-of-four. "I'm getting rather attached to this fluro vest. x vb".

Another photo showed the former Spice Girl with a team of architects.

"Hard hats and vests!" Victoria captioned the picture. "Architect meeting at Victoria Beckham Dover St, London x vb (now I really love this vest!)".

Victoria's new store is set to open for business in September and she was spotted checking out the boutique's venue in March with husband David Beckham.

Currently still under construction and covered in scaffolding, Victoria's first shop is located on Mayfair's Dover Street.

The 40-year-old has an online store and her labels are stocked in luxury boutiques around the world, but this will be her first standalone store.

It will stock her main collection, her sister range as well as accessories and denim.

Talking to Women's Wear Daily after news of the new store broke, Victoria said, "I think the time is now because I know my customer.

"It will be the first time that the people will really be able to see the brand through my eyes."

The interior of the 7000 square foot space will be designed by famous architect Farshid Moussavi.
