Since she became one of the most famous style icons in the world following her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has been compared to a number of other famous women, including her husband's late mother Princess Diana and her new sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge. And now her recent outfits have been sparking comparisons to a certain classic Hollywood star. Last Tuesday, Meghan looked stunning as she arrived at Westminster Abbey for the start of the Royal Air Force centenary celebrations wearing a black dress by Dior which featured a bateau neckline, just like her wedding dress. She wore her hair up, topped with a matching black hat by Stephen Jones and kept her makeup simple.

Eagle-eyed fashion fans have pointed out that the whole look was very reminiscent of Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn. The Breakfast at Tiffany's star was a big fan of bateau necklines, full skirts and sharp tailoring, often in simple monochrome shades. In the 1957 film Love in the Afternoon, which she starred in alongside Gary Cooper, Audrey wore an almost-identical outfit to the one Meghan was spotted in last week, featuring a black hat, long sleeves and a nipped-in waist.

The similarities between the two don't end there. Audrey was regularly dressed by Givenchy and developed a close relationship with the Parisian fashion house throughout her career. Meghan famously opted for the label's artistic director Clare Waight Keller to design her stunning wedding dress, and has worn the brand on some of her most important outings, including her first solo trip with the Queen.

Meghan also wore a very Audrey-esque outfit for her first appearance in Wimbledon's Royal Box on Saturday. Her striped shirt and cream high-waisted trousers were reminiscent of styles regularly worn by the movie star.
