Speculation over who will design Meghan Markle's wedding dress when she ties the knot to Prince Harry on Saturday has been at fever pitch for months, and while we don't yet know who will land the biggest fashion gig of the year, we have a sneaking suspicion as to what the flower girls may be wearing. And talking of flower girls, we finally have word on who the royal couple have chosen to be bridesmaids for their wedding on Saturday 19th May. Three-year-old Princess Charlotte will be bridesmaid as well as Prince Harry's 3-year-old goddaughter, Florence van Cutsem, and 2-year-old goddaughter Zalie Warren. They join Meghan Markle's goddaughters, Remi Litt, 6, and Rylan Litt, 7, and her best friend's daughter, Ivy Mulroney, aged 4.
Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, who runs her own luxury childrenswear label, has just released a new collection of dresses just perfect for little bridesmaids. And with such immaculate timing, we wonder whether we'll be spotting the royal flower girls – including Princess Charlotte – wearing these on Saturday.
The sweet dresses are simialr to those worn by flower girls at previous royal weddings
Marie-Chantal is a fashion designer who used to work with Andy Warhol. She married Pavlos Crown Prince of Greece in 1995, which was the largest gathering of royals in London since Queen Elizabeth's wedding to Prince Philip in 1946. The couple have five children and split their time between London and New York. And although they maintain their royal titles, they will never take the throne in Greece as the country disposed of its monarchy in 1973. Marie-Chantal's childrenswear line is stocked in boutiques and stores worldwide.
When Kate Middleton and Prince William wed at Westminster Abbey in 2011 their young flower girls, which included lady Louise Windsor, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, Eliza Lopes and Grace van Cutsem wore beautiful white dresses with champagne-coloured sashes by Nicki McFarlane. These were accessorised with pretty flower crowns.
And when Prince George and Princess Charlotte appeared as flower girl and page boy at aunty Pippa Middleton's wedding to financier James Matthews they wore charming outfits from kidswear designer Pepa & Co. The girls wore white dresses with dusky pink sashes and flower crowns, while the boys were dressed in double-breasted white shirts, cropped olive pantaloons and long white socks. Mum Kate also stunned in a peach floor-length gown and hat.
