The Duchess of Cambridge turned to one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen, for her staff Christmas party on Wednesday. Kate, who is expecting her third child with Prince William, is believed to have worn the designer's black dress dotted with heart prints. The festive number features a self-tie neckline, ruffled hem that falls above the knee and a drop-waist silhouette that would have concealed Kate's baby bump. The dress is currently on sale on US site Bergdorf Goodman for an estimated £1,897.

However, Kate may have also been wearing a very similar dress, also by Alexander McQueen – another black dress that features heart prints. Described as an "oversized mini dress" and made of 100 per cent silk crepe de chine, the frock features three-quarter length sleeves with a ruffled cuff, and an asymmetrical ruffle detail on the hem. It is sold for a slightly cheaper £1,525.

Kate was pictured wearing the Alexander McQueen dress as she left Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill, which the royals had hired for their annual staff party. She was pictured being driven home in a car with Prince William, with an aide and chauffeur in the front seats. Prince Harry and his new fiancée Meghan Markle also joined the swanky bash, but left earlier. Style icon Kate has been giving fans inspiration for the festive season.

Last month, the Duchess stunned in a bespoke ice blue Jenny Packham gown, which was very reminiscent of the one worn by Queen Elsa in popular children's film Frozen. Kate was attending the Royal Variety Performance at Palladium Theatre in London with Prince William.

For her day time engagements, Kate has also looked typically chic in a burgundy Seraphine coat and a striking bold red dress by Goat, which is priced at £450. It appears the Duchess is a big fan of the high-end British brand. She was worn the label to various engagements in the past month, dressing her baby bump in a deep cranberry dress, the brand's ivory Redgrave coat and its black and white Washington dress coat.
