Mandy Moore loves rocking '70s attire for This Is Us as it's not a decade she ever got to experience. The 33-year-old actress stars in the hit NBC show as wife and mother Rebecca and wears costumes from several eras as the programme extends over different timelines.
Asked which decade inspires her the most in terms of outfits from the '70s, '80s or '90s, Mandy gushed to Racked.com: "I love any of the '70s flashbacks the most, just because it's the furthest from my recollection. I have no point of reference. I'm a kid of the '80s, so even if I wasn't wearing some of those fashions, my mom was, and I recognised the world around me in that sense. I love the '70s - the make-up, the hair, the whole thing put together. It's my favourite decade."

For one scene in the show, Mandy's alter ego dresses up as Cher, with the star praising the long dark wig she got to wear. But she wasn't a fan of the beauty look, quipping: "The Cher eyelashes, not so much. It was like a strip lash on the bottom. I don't know how she does it. It was not fun, not comfortable."
As for when her character is older on screen, the make-up department use clever tricks to make Mandy look older, which can take up to four hours to apply and an hour to remove. The process is so long that she's often left behind when her co-stars, who include Milo Ventimiglia and Chrissy Metz, leave the set. "I've done it so many times at this point, but the first few times I think I studied myself in the mirror to see if I looked like my grandmother or my mother, and I don't think I look like either one of them, so I don't feel like it's an indication of what I'm going to look like when I get older," she laughed.
