Christy Turlington helped Karlie Kloss get into college

Karlie Kloss has admitted that Christy Turlington played a key role in helping her to enrol at New York University this autumn. The HELLO! Autumn/Winter Pret-a-Porter cover star revealed that the iconic supermodel, who is an alumni of the school, wrote her a letter of recommendation when she initially applied to attend the prestigious institution.

Christy Turlington wrote Karlie Kloss' letter of recommendation for NYU

Christy, 46, was more than happy to help Karlie in her latest venture. "It was all about my crush on Karlie in 500 words," she told the New York Times. "She is going to take this education and blow it up. She's so eager and ready and thoughtful about her next steps."

Meanwhile, Karlie explained that she had been inspired by Christy when she made the decision to juggle her successful modelling career and attend classes – much like the 90s icon who, at the height of her career in 1994, found a balance between getting a college education and taking on increasing numbers of modelling jobs.

"The whole idea of believing I could go to college, and model, comes straight from Christy," said Karlie. "It's a lot to take on, but she did it. But I may ask for help with homework."

This isn't the first time the star has made time for education amidst her jam-packed schedule. Last May she enrolled in a class at Harvard Business School as a part-time student, taking a course titled The Business of Media, Entertainment and Sports.

Still, the American beauty admitted in a video on her YouTube channel Klossy that she was feeling the pressure ahead of her first day at NYU.

"I'm really nervous about... the first day going back to school," she told the camera. "I'll be taking classes at NYU in the fall. So all I can do is know that when I get to school, that day, I'm going to do the best I can to just focus and prepare leading up to it, and it's going to be fine. I'll take it one day at a time."
