The Met Ball is often hailed as the Oscars of the fashion industry, so it comes as no surprise that this year's guest list is as star-studded as ever. Style icons from Kim Kardashian to Blake Lively are set to attend the glitzy gala on 4 May, which will be co-hosted by Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence.

Last year's hosts Sarah Jessica Parker and Bradley Cooper will once again take to the red carpet, this time as guests only, joining fashionistas including Sienna Miller, Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon and Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson. Meanwhile some of the music industry's biggest icons will be showcasing their style credentials, with the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West and Jennifer Lopez confirmed on the guest list. Designer duo Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who did not attend last year's glitzy event will also be making an appearance for the ball celebrating this year's exhibition, China: Through the Looking Glass. Other designers set to show their support include Burberry chief Christopher Bailey, Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton and Oscar de la Renta's new creative director Peter Copping.

When it comes to models, it comes as no surprise that Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss have topped the list. Not only do they continue to storm the biggest runways at Fashion Week, but they also repeatedly floor fans with their effortlessly cool and high fashion ensembles. Rising superstar Kendall Jenner, who made her Met Ball debut last year in a Topshop couture dress, is also tipped to be attending. There is one name on the list that has surprised fans however – Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld. The designer's Cruise Collection fashion show is set to take place on the same night, in Seoul, South Korea, causing speculation that Karl's presence may purely be down to his designs being worn by stars on the red carpet.
