How to get scouted for modelling

Share this:

The Select Model Management team were busy at the Clothes Show Live, on the hunt for new faces to grace their books. After their stint at this year's event, the scouts have shared with HELLO! Fashion their top tips on how to get scouted, what they look for in potential models and the outline of the scouting process...

What are the key things you look for when scouting? Our check list is this: first, the face, then height, the individual style and then the personality once we have stopped the girl. The best moments are always when a girl has that 'special something' which really just makes her stand out. How should hopeful models dress/ do their make up? Dress to stand out! We love seeing girls with their own individual dress sense. Make-up should be kept minimal. If we feel a girl has too much makeup on we will ask them to take it off.

What are the age restrictions for models? We are really looking for girls 15 years old and older. However, we will scout younger girls to keep an eye on for the future – sometimes a girl needs a few years to develop, become her own personality and reach her full height. How many girls do you scout per day at Clothes Show Live? We scout about 100 girls per day. At the end of every day we review the girls we have scouted with the rest of the team and will then limit it down to just a few to invite back to meet us in London, which is all very exciting!

Do you feel protective over the girls you scout? Yes, we have a great New Faces team and when you sign to Select you become part of the Select Family. We nurture and look after all of our new faces. Every girl has different circumstances as in schooling, hobbies, family lives etc so we tailor-make modelling to fit around the girls' lives.
