Sarah Jessica Parker on being different to Carrie Bradshaw

Share this:

Sarah Jessica Parker played the role of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City for six years. So it might not come as a surprise that the two characters share many similarities. "I think in many ways I'm like Carrie because I would much prefer to be interviewing you, for instance," she told an E! reporter. "I'm very curious about other people, and that's why I like the subway. Because I can just watch people."

There are, however, many differences between the two – one in particular being their attitudes towards fashion."I like clothing, but I don't have anywhere near a fevered relationship that she does," said Sarah Jessica.Clothes were a huge part of the hit TV series. Carrie was known for her love of designer shoes, and Sarah Jessica recently revealed the one pair she won't ever forget.

The mother-of-three revealed that a pair of infamous Manolo Blahnik shoes – her character's favourite designer – made a particularly strong impression on her during filming. "I think the one that people remember, love and talk about a lot is the moment she sees the Manolo Mary Janes in the Vogue closet and says, 'Oh my god, I thought this was an urban myth'," the 50-year-old told Harper's Bazaar. "I think that was a very funny and clever way of talking about something that is to some, a silly sort of infatuation. But it gives it some kind of smarts. "For Sarah Jessica, it was a memorable milestone, and she confessed that she had already seen the shoes, and been such a fan that she added them to her world-famous stylish wardrobe. "That's great writing and the fact that that great shoe existed… I knew from that, because I had borrowed a pair for an event and ended up keeping them."
