Oscar-winning Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has made a transition to behind the camera. The Hollywood star turns director for a promotional video for her new lingerie collection for Agent Provocateur.
The glamorous 39-year-old designed the underwear collection with her younger sister Monica. This is not the first time the sisters have come together in the name of fashion, with both collaborating for Spanish brand Mango and Samantha Thavasa in previous years.
The Spanish actresses were both pregnant during the design process of the Agent Provocateur collection and since have given birth to baby girls.
Despite not featuring in the video herself, the Vanilla Sky actress directed a group of long-legged models to take her place in order to flaunt the sexy lingerie.
Taking centre stage in the promotional scenes is girlfriend to Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, Irina Shayk. The Russian model is pursued by Spanish actor Miguel Angel Silvestre in the video among a room of half-clothed women.
Miguel is able to see the women in their lingerie only when he puts on his sunglasses, but is awoken from his indulgent fantasy by Penelope’s actor husband, Javier Bardem, who makes a cameo in the video.
The luxury French lingerie brand created a behind-the-scenes video of the sensual shoot with Penelope revealing the creative purpose of the story.
"It's important to send the message that this is for everybody. I can find beauty in so many different types of women. I didn't just want to show the beautiful bodies of the models, I wanted to tell a story," she explained.
While Penelope opted to remain behind the camera, Monica Cruz makes a cameo appearance in the clip.
"I got my sister a few days before she gave birth and I thought she wasn't going to make it but she came and looked beautiful," Penelope gushed.
The lingerie range is named after Spanish girls which include the Clementina, the Alycee and of course the Penelope and the Mónica.
The collection features wearable yet flattering bras, briefs and baby dolls dress ranging from classic black and neutral tones to vibrant hot pinks and bright greens.
The debut collection will go on sale in stockists including Net-A-Porter.com, Selfridges, House of Fraser and John Lewis.
