Armani ladies Uma Thurman and Hilary Swank bring Hollywood to Paris

Veteran couturier Giorgio Armani always manages to pull a starry crowd. And his couture show on Tuesday was no exception, with Hollywood royalty Uma Thurman and Hilary Swank checking out his new wares from the front row. Uma, who gave birth to her third child just a few months ago, was the epitome of elegance as she turned up to the Paris show dressed head-to-toe in black. Having left her baby girl back at the hotel with dad and other half Arpad Busson, she was showing off her model-worthy physique in a skin-tight trousers and a loose-fitting, silk tunic top.

A chic black coat completed the look and protected her from the chilly weather, but the Kill Bill actress managed to add a splash of colour to her outfit with a pair of peep-toe green and blue stilettos. The 42-year-old seemed delighted to bump into fellow leading lady Hilary Swank, who had gone for a more dazzling look in a metallic grey sequin dress, despite covering up with a black coat. The pair posed up with Giorgio Armani for the cameras before taking their front row seats next to each other. Fellow show-goers were distracted by the famous front row pairing, but managed to tear their eyes away to watch the stunning presentation of couture that expertly contrasted the classic with the exotic. Luxurious materials, including silks, satins, organzas and silk jacquards, were adorned with African prints, geometric zigzags and bold splashes of colour in the form of canary yellow, ruby red and bright orange. But the timelessness that Armani is known for, and the reason so many celebs remain loyal fans, came through in black satin pants, rhinestones and sequins.

Earlier this week, after arriving in Paris for Couture Week, Hilary encountered a situation. While sitting in a taxi in the northern suburb of Saint-Denis, thieves shattered the back window and snatched her handbag, which was right next to her in the car. The actress was no doubt shaken up by the incident, and at the Armani show her bodyguard was right at hand, leading her carefully through the crowd. Uma, meanwhile, recently opened up about the six names that she gave her little one. An official statement saying that the girl's name would be: "Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson, better known to family and friends as Luna" was met with disbelief. But speaking to Jimmy Fallon, Uma explained: "We couldn't quite agree on the name. We call her Luna, so she's lucky that way."
