Red carpet reign: The best-dressed A-list beauties of 2012
It's difficult to forget Angelina Jolie's Oscars moment. When the breathtaking actress struck a pose on the red carpet, showing off acres of leg with a black velvet Atelier Versace dress that was slit to the thigh, the world was instantly transfixed.
But she's not the only stunning celebrity to have made waves with lovely red carpet looks in 2012. Take Gwyneth Paltrow, for example, who at the same event was simply heavenly in an ivory Tom Ford cape that was perfectly complemented by a sleek updo.

The beautiful ladies didn't manage to detract attention, however, from the ever-gorgeous Penelope Cruz, who was channeling a modern-day princess in a powder blue custom Giorgio Armani periwinkle organza, full-skirted gown.
Academy Awards aside, Kate Middleton raised the style stakes when she stepped out for a London Olympic gala concert, stealing the show in a subtly pleated, floor-sweeping teal Jenny Packham creation. She was also showing off a new hairstyle with a rare, intricate updo that put the gown's lacy back detail on display.
We also witnessed Beyonce showing off her fabulous post-baby physique in a seriously dramatic Givenchy gown that featured a black spider's web fishtail gown and a sheer bodice embellished with crystals to cover the singer's modesty.
Keira Knightley, meanwhile, showed off her breathtaking beauty at the LA premiere of Anna Karenina, wearing a light green Erdem dress. The stunning, floor-length creation, which bared her defined collar-bones with its sweetheart neckline, featured blue and white detailing that made for a super elegant touch.
Sporting an aqua-hued, sequin fishtail dress, Sofia Vergara was every inch a magnificent mermaid at the Emmy's. The figure-hugging, Zuhair Murad number made sure to show off the Modern Family star's supermodel statistics to perfection.
Also standing out amongst a sea of A-list beauties in Zuhair Murad this year was Jennifer Lopez, who ensured all eyes were on her at the Vanity Fair Oscars party in a burgundy sequin maxidress that featured a neckline plunging almost to the navel.
And burgundy has also worked wonders for fellow stars, including Spiderman actress Emma Stone. The beautiful redhead, who is dating costar Andrew Garfield, chose an understated, unique and utterly gorgeous gown by Lanvin in the deep berry hue.
Last, but far from least, is Kristen Stewart, who wowed in a series of dramatic dresses during the Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II premieres. A stand-out look, however, was the gold Elie Saab that ensured she glistened on the red carpet while posing next to boyfriend Robert Pattinson.
