Andrej Pejic, a male model with feminine, feline-features and long, blonde hair sparked the trend when he started appearing on designer catwalks modelling womenswear. And it was recently announced that female model Casey Legler was signed to modelling agency Ford's men's division.
Now, designer label Saint Laurent is traversing the gender lines, hiring Dutch model Saskia de Brauw to front their latest menswear campaign.

With her cropped haircut, slender physique and chiselled jawline, the 31-year-old is a convincing male as she shows off creative director Hedi Slimane's signature skinny tailoring in the series of black and white shots for the re-branded branch of Yves Saint Laurent.
It comes as no surprise that the label is the latest to break stereotypical gender roles in fashion – Hedi is known for his androgynous approach to design, once saying that his "perceptions of genders ended up slightly out of focus from an early age."
And Saskia herself is no stranger to the concept either, having modelled for Givenchy in their SS13 show.
Andrej is the most famous model to have crossed the boundaries, stunning audience earlier this year at Barcelona's Bridal Week 2013 as he took to the catwalk in bridal creations by Spanish designer Rosa Clara.
He has become one of the most unique models of the fashion world. And it’s no wonder, because the top model has one of the most captivating and individual looks out there.
Andrej has cultivated his image as one of complete androgyny. Since he appeared in a spectacular wedding dress designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for the couture shows in Paris in January 2011, the Serbian model’s fame has soared.
Indeed, one could even say that he has become the muse of the French fashion guru, especially as he has replaced Jon Kotajarena as the face of the designer’s men's fragrance.
