Leaving their youthful Disney alter-egos behind them, Hollywood's rising stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens brought glamour and sophistication to Venice.

Stepping out at the premiere of her wild new comedy Spring Breakers without boyfriend Justin Bieber, Selena glowed in an intricately detailed, pink strapless Versace Atelier gown and wore her hair elegantly swept to one side.

Former High School Musical star Vanessa also sparkled in a sequin-clad pastel floor-length Temperley dress, with a daring neckline. She added an edge to her look with funky nails and a glittering gold clutch.

Vanessa, 23, was accompanied by her boyfriend, actor Austin Butler, who sported a suave grey suit and slicked back hair.

The girls' co-star Ashley Benson looked striking in a bold strapless blue floorlength dress, completing her look with dramatic smoky eyes and an up-do that revealed dazzling teardrop earrings.

Spring Breaker's writer and director Harmony Korine was joined by his wife Rachel who wore a golden flowing gown.

Harmony, who added a fun edge to his look by wearing trainers, avoided spoiling his wife’s bright red lipstick by planting a loving kiss her on her cheek as they posed for photos.

Not to be outdone by his female co-stars, actor James Franco looked dapper in a traditional two-piece black suit.

In a marked departure from Selena and Vanessa's previous roles, Spring Breakers tells the story of four hedonistic college girls who go to Florida for their university holiday.

The film is due to hit screens next year.
