It was a real family affair with her doting husband David in the front row and Harper snoozing in a corner.

"I got some good shots," said David Beckham.

The doting husband had been sitting amongst the fashion glitterati in the front row of Victoria's New York fashion week show, cheering her on while capturing the action with his camera.

The fashion designer was quick to crack a joke about her other half's attendance.

"He's never been before," she said backstage at the New York Public Library, quipping: "I don't think he even realised that I have a proper job until today!"

With baby daughter Harper – whose mum has now designed a handbag named after her – in the corner taking a nap, it was a true Beckham family affair.

"And the beanie hats – they were inspired by the ones David is always wearing."

The latest offerings were signature Victoria Beckham – lean silhouettes and sharp lines paired with bodycon effects and unzip-me-quick zippers for a fabulous, sporty-esque finish.

With Victoria having been the star designer of the BAFTA red carpet, and with more than one A-lister expected to be giving Beckham evening wear an airing at the Oscars later this month, the collection was surprisingly focused on daywear.

Dresses with military touches were teamed with edgy biker boots and smoothed down tresses.

And, right on cue after the emerging first lady of fashion took a shy bow, her daughter started crying to be picked up by Daddy.
