A New York snow storm couldn't stop A-list celebrities stepping out to celebrate the memory of late actress Natasha Richardson at the annual Amfar gala on Wednesday.
From her mother Vanessa Redgrave
, to Meryl Streep
and Heidi Klum
, through to Sarah Ferguson
and music's hottest star Lady Gaga, a who's who of leading ladies attended the event, this year dedicated to Natasha who was a prolific supporter of the charity.
Vanessa and her elder daughter, Joely Richardson
, smiled as they arrived together for the benefit.
As part of the evening's proceedings, the 73-year-old English actress also gave a speech in honour of Natasha – the beloved wife
of Liam Neeson
, who tragically passed away
in 2009 after a skiing accident.
It was also a particularly emotional affair for Brooke Shields, who was close to tears on the red carpet as she spoke abut her friend, whom she described as a beautiful woman and a brilliant mother.
and model Heidi – svelte in a LBD – mingled with the likes of Iman, wife of David Bowie
, and Avatar stars
Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver at the charity bash, also attended by the Duchess of York.
Perhaps the biggest talking point of the evening came courtesy of Lady Gaga, who arrived on the arm of another quirky songstress, Cyndi Lauper.
Known for her extravagant approach
to fashion, the 23-year-old – who performed at the do - upped the ante in an all-white ensemble made all the more eye-catching thanks to the hundreds of white pearls stuck to her face and body.
Wearing nothing more than a sparkling bikini, partially covered by a jacket, a hat and super high-heels, the New Yorker's only concession to colour was her lipstick.
The annual Amfar gala, which raises money for Aids research, is held on the eve of New York fashion week to honour those making an outstanding contribution to the cause, and features cocktails, a dinner and a live auction.
