German actress Diane Kruger was born in 1976 and grew up dreaming of becoming a ballerina. She spent much of her education on exchange programs to improve her English and eventually joined the Royal Ballet School in London.
After an injury derailed her ballet career, Diane moved to Paris and took up modelling.
She ended up working on high-profile campaigns for designers including Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Chanel
, and walked in runway shows for Marc Jacobs and D&G.
In 1999 Diane met French actor and director Guillaume Canet and the pair married in 2001.
Diane decided to pursue an acting career, and her first major big screen role occurred in Guillaume's directorial debut Mon Idole.
In 2004 she starred as Helen of Sparta in the box office success Troy
and starred alongside Nicolas Cage
in 2004 action film National Treasure.

Diane and Guillaume divorced in 2006 and Diane later said of marriage: "Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage. I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There's no paper that will make you stay. "

, and she has also taken on roles in Quentin Tarantino's 2009 war film Inglorious Basterds
