The theme of this year's 2013 Metropolitan Ball was Punk: Chaos To Couture, and designers and guests attending the fashionable soirée certainly rose to the occasion as they paraded New York in their daring, dark looks on Monday evening.
Sarah Jessica Parker embraced the theme with all aspects of her look as she stepped out onto the red carpet wearing an extravagant patterned Giles Deacon gown with contrasting tartan boots by Louis Vuitton.

The boots, which rose mid-thigh, showed off Sarah's toned legs from beneath the dress' printed voluminous skirt while the Sex and the City star accessorised her daring look with stunning jewels and a bold headpiece.
The feature hairpiece by Philip Treacy was decorated with gold and showed off a tall Mohawk-style brush on top as a nod to the punk era. The mum-of-three also had thick blonde extensions woven into her regular hair which was then styled into an intricate fishtail plait for extra detail to her extravagant ensemble.
Flying the flag for British punk culture, model Cara Delevingne and actress Sienna Miller stole the show with their studded couture creations.
Cara, who is currently the face of Burberry, attended the evening's event wearing a plunging black gown embossed with gold embellishments by the British brand. The model then matched the gold spike features of the dress with a cream and gold leather clutch and several pieces of gold costume jewelry.
Sienna Miller also opted for playful gold-studded accessories as she styled her hair to the side with a simple detailed headband and chose three ear cuffs which matched Cara's. Sienna, who has also modelled for Burberry, also wore a dress by the brand. She chose a crepe open-back plunging dress and teamed the clean style of the gown with a more punk-inspired studded cropped biker jacket.
Also wearing white with a gorgeous Givenchy number was Side Effects actress, Rooney Mara. The dress, which featured a zip-front paneling and padded shoulders showed off the exquisite detailing of the lace fabric.
Actress Diane Kruger joined Rooney in embracing lace for the punk-inspired event by opting for a fitted, black number by Chanel. The glittering haute couture piece was accessorized with Jacob & Co. jewelery and a heavily studded clutch bag. Diane completed the themed look by dying the ends of her blonde locks with a punk-pink hue.
