The jeggings that caught Kate Middleton's eye
As a royal style icon, Kate Middleton’s maternity fashion will be a hot topic from now until her due date in July. And although there is little sign of a bump so far, she has given some clues as to what she will be adding to her pregnancy wardrobe.
Last week, The Duchess was spotted shopping for one of her style staples, coloured jeans. She browsed the rails in Gap near London’s exclusive Sloane Square – one of the Middleton sisters’ preferred areas for retail therapy.

It seems the fashion-forward royal had one of spring/summer 2013’s key trends at the forefront of her mind – bold colours – as well as wanting to keep comfortable during her pregnancy.
A Gap spokeswoman revealed what took the mum-to-be’s fancy, "This spring we have just introduced some great new bright colours in a 'skimmer' fit, which skims just above the ankle, and I believe these caught her eye." The super skinny ‘skimmer’ style jeans come in five vibrant hues – citrus green, neon flamingo, citrus juice, becca blue and neon pink – as well as classic blues and printed floral patterns.
Kate has always been a fan of skinnies, perfectly suited to her slender pins, but last summer’s London Olympics saw her experiment with brighter shades, perfect for the warmer months.
For a pre-Olympic hockey match, which saw Kate pick up a stick and join the players on the pitch, she teamed a pair of coral jeans with a classic navy blue blazer. The Kate effect struck again and retailers reported sales soaring within a matter of hours. Weeks later Kate wore Zara jeans in an appropriately royal blue shade to welcome the Olympic torch at Buckingham Palace as it completed its epic journey around the UK.
But she had been pipped to the post by her ever-stylish sister Pippa who had opted for a similarly bold shade months before when she stepped out wearing rosy pink SuperDry jeans in west London. She toned the daring denim down with a black Zara blazer, checked shirt and trademark black suede boots.
