After a short awards season breather, Hollywood starlets are set to don their gladrags once again as they make a glamorous return to the red carpet on Sunday night for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. And it is one of the fashion team at HELLO! Online's favourite ceremonies of the season – attracting some of the biggest names in showbiz, the event sees A-listers dressed up to the nines but with more freedom to take sartorial risks than at the Oscars, meaning we normally have plenty to talk about in the office on Monday morning. But while we wait to see what Hollywood's leading ladies plan on wowing us with, let's take a look at some of the best gowns from the SAG Awards in the past five years.

With her Fifties flair and French je ne sais quoi, Marion Cotillard is often singled out as a red carpet standout. And her 2008 appearance at the annual event was no different – she subtly shimmered in an embellished Nina Ricci gown with a tight bodice that lent her an ultra feminine air. The same year, glamourpuss Eva Longoria was simply dazzling, having poured her curves into a white sequin dress with a plunging back by Naeem Khan. Side swept retro waves completed the Desperate Housewives star's old Hollywood look. Her former costar Teri Hatcher, meanwhile, was showstopping in 2009 with an ivory, one shoulder Monique Lhuillier layered dress that broke up a sea of slim silhouettes sported by fellow attendees. But she shared the limelight with Angelina Jolie, who rarely puts a fashion foot wrong on the red carpet. The actress was the epitome of laidback chic in a soft, draped jersey dress with her hair piled up in a loose bun. And Kate Winslet also chose a shade of blue – showing off her feminine curves in a figure-hugging Narciso Rodriguez gown that featured a plunging neckline and fishtail hem.

The stunning starlets were joined by actress Amy Adams, who cut a striking figure in a merlot strapless corset gown by Giambattista Valli. The dress had ruffle details on the bodice and the contrast between the burgundy hue of the dress, Amy's fiery-hued hair, her pale complexion and bold red lips was breathtaking. 2010 was another year of showstopping looks at the SAG Awards. Diane Kruger channelled old Hollywood glamour in a one shoulder draped mustard gown by Jason Wu. Ruby and gold earrings, scarlet lipstick and a simple, wavy updo completed the look. Sandra Bullock was also proving her fashion credentials in a black Alexander McQueen column gown with electric blue, sparkling detailing around the neckline. The 2011 awards ceremony saw Mila Kunis make her major red carpet debut in a printed Alexander McQueen gown that gained the majority of best-dressed votes, while Sofia Vergara smouldered in jewel blue Roberto Cavalli. Quirky fashionista Michelle Williams took the red carpet by storm in 2012, posing up in an unusual but absolutely stunning scarlet Valentino frock with pretty lace details. And all eyes were on George Clooney's girl Stacy Keibler, who was showing off her model-like physique in black lace Marchesa.
