Victoria Beckham is crowned Twitter's first lady of fashion

Victoria became the most talked about designer on the site and gained an extra 57, 000 followers accoring to statistics released by Whisper Group social media agency

New York Fashion Week was a rounding success for Victoria Beckham in more ways than one.

Not only did her collections garner critical acclaim, but the star also got Twitter thrumming, becoming the most talked about designer on the social network.

Victoria gained an extra 57,000 followers as a result of her Big Apple outing.

The good news comes courtesy of New York-based social media agency Whisper Group, who scoured Twitter to identify which designers reigned supreme at last week's unveilings.

Marc Jacobs was snapping at Victoria's sky-high heels, with Diane Von Furstenberg completing the top three.

Even if the stats hadn't gone her way, Mrs Beckham would still have been floating home from the US.

She effortlessly struck the balance between high fashion and high street, presenting her impeccably tailored garments alongside an economic, ready-to-wear line.

Both hit the spot with the crowds, as did the presence of Victoria's adorable daughter Harper, and husband David, who were supporting from the front row.
