New York Fashion Week: Nicki Minaj scores best seat in the house

by /

It made for a rather interesting sight.

Nicki Minaj, dressed in arguably her most outlandish outfit to date, chatted to the perennially elegant US Vogue editor Anna Wintour in the front row of the Carolina Herrera show at New York Fashion Week.

Wearing luminous lime green fishnets paired with an orange and turquoise tennis skirt and a multi-coloured bobble top, the hip-hop star exchanged small talk with the most influential woman in fashion.

She must have been delighted with her prime place on the front row – the best seat at any show is next to Anna Wintour.

Meanwhile, Renee Zellweger – a Herrera devotee – was also present.

Chic in a beige, side-ruched dress teamed with nude heels and a matching mini handbag, the A-lister chatted with fellow Hollywood actress Olivia Munn.

Olivia was in high spirits, probably because she was headed backstage straight after the show to pick a dress for the Emmys on Sunday.

And the actress revealed she hopes this year's awards ceremony will be more relaxing than the last.

Talking to the New York Times, she said: "I had this gorgeous Zac Posen dress, but right as I was getting ready I had a friend come through and she brought kind of a tornado of drama.

"Everyone was so flustered that we ended up just throwing my hair in a ponytail and doing almost no make-up," she recalled.

Carolina sent a jovial colour palette of canary yellow, sage green and rosy red down the the runway.

Songbirds prints and geometric designs adorned gowns, day dresses and lightweight jackets.
