After paying homage to her late friend Alexander McQueen at the London premiere of Sex and the City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker again honoured the British designer at the CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday night in New York.

The actress donned a flowing, patterned gown from his pre-autumn 2010 collection, which she wore as she presented a special tribute to Alexander, who passed away in February.

"There's no question his breathtaking work will endure," Sarah said of her friend. "But I would've loved to see what he would've done next."

After her moving comments, models presented McQueen's final collection, a series of dramatic looks for autumn-winter 2010-2011.

While Sarah's tribute was undoubtedly one of the most poignant moments of the evening, she wasn't the only actress to acknowledge a friend in the fashion world.

Gwyneth Paltrow arrived on the arm of US designer Michael Kors, who was presented with a lifetime achievement award by Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

And the Iron Man 2 star also served as Michael's gorgeous model, showing off a sparkling, one-shoulder black gown from his collection.

Rachel Weisz was another Hollywood leading lady who brought a star designer as her date, arriving with Jason Wu - famous for creating Michelle Obama's stunning inauguration ball gown.

The Oscar-winner presented Jason with one of the night's awards and, like Sarah Jessica and Gwyneth, happily displayed one of her friend's ensembles – a chic, blue shift dress.

The star power didn't end there, though. Model Iman and husband David Bowie were also in attendance as the Somali beauty, who wore Giambattista Valli, was named this year's Fashion Icon.
