The show must go on: Heidi Klum puts aside grief to walk Big Apple runway

She had been visibly shaken the day before over the death of Alexander McQueen

A day before, when she was told the news of Alexander McQueen's death, a visibly shaken Heidi Klum sadly lamented the loss of "one of the most talented, extraordinary designers in the world ever".

And on Friday she put aside her grief to walk the catwalk in the annual Red Dress show – a collection of gowns by a variety of designers, each in a scarlet hue – which raises awareness of heart disease.

On bombshell form in a halter gown by John Galliano, it was clear the mum-of-four is back in perfect shape after welcoming daughter Lou last October.

Others taking part in the presentation included actress Joan Collins. She sashayed down the runway in a gown her Dynasty character Alexis Carrington would have coveted - a flowing red chiffon creation by Stephane Rolland.

Meanwhile flying the flag for the music world was singer Estelle. She showed off her curves in Zac Posen, and drew attention to her big eyes with disco diva metallic blue eyeshadow and lash extensions.

A selection of the dresses featured in the show will be auctioned online in partnership with the charity Clothes Off Our Back, with funds going to research on heart disease.
