Pippa Middleton is set to marry her finance James Matthews on the 20th May in an intimate ceremony at her local village church in Berkshire. With big sister Kate wanting to ensure that all eyes are on the bride on her special day, it is likely that she will opt for a classic, low-key look. With an enviable wardrobe and the world’s most prestigious designers lining up to dress her, Kate most certainly has a lot of choice when it comes to what to wear.

Back in 2005, the Duchess of Cambridge attended her first wedding as the girlfriend of Prince William - the couple went to celebrate the marriage of their friends Hugh Van Cutsem and Rose Astor. It was a June wedding and Kate looked demure in a stylish monochrome ensemble; a fitted jacket and matching top, teamed with a horizontal patterned skirt by Karen Millen. In keeping with her black and white theme, she rounded off her look with a black fascinator, pointed flat pumps and a sleek clutch bag.

Kate's fondness of high street brands is well documented, and she's perfectly happy to attend formal events wearing affordable styles. In 2011, at the wedding of Sam Waley-Cohen and Annabel Ballin, the down-to-earth royal turned heads in another black and white outfit - a form-fitting Zara dress with an all-over circle pattern teamed with an eye-catching black headpiece.

The Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of form-fitting dresses

The same year, the Duchess of Cambridge made a statement in a striking oversized cream Gina Foster hat at the wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall's. The look was completed by her iconic brocade Day Birger et Mikkelsen coat. The mother-of-two often plumps for a neutral palette of cream, black, beige and taupe, especially at weddings, and so we may well see her opt for something similar for Pippa's nuptials in May.

Kate has a trademark classic style, and more often than not, she dresses her slim figure in fitted designs and chooses to wear her long, dark hair in loose waves that cascade elegantly onto her shoulders. She is also a fan of skirt suits and has been spotted in many a colourful design over the years. There is a chance however, that Kate will go all-out and dress in a more extravagant ensemble for Pippa's big day - after all, it is her little sister’s wedding.

The 35-year-old Duchess was recently spotted in an ice-blue sequinned Jenny Packham number with mid-length sheer sleeves and a beaded bodice - a design that would work beautifully for a celebration in the idyllic English countryside. Kate's favourite designers include Erdem and Catherine Walker while her go-to high-street labels are L.K Bennett and Reiss. Whatever she chooses to wear for her little sister's wedding, one thing is for sure... We simply can’t wait to see it.
