London Fashion Week Diary Day 2

After LFW Day 1’s exciting introduction to what we will be seeing more of come Autumn Winter this year (think pink, texture and cut outs) Day 2 of London Fashion Week had a lot to live up to!

A Hello Kitty collaboration celebrated Ryan LO’s 5th anniversary in a burst of colour. The London College of Fashion graduate’s show was a celebration of childhood nostalgia with vibrant pink babydoll dresses complete with ruffles and puffed up sleeves. The models had a slightly punk look with hair tied innocently in high bunches with extensions contrasted with bold fringes dyed in yellows, greens, blues and purples, it was every 8 year old girl’s dream look! As with a lot of shows we are seeing for AW17, pink is the clear dominating colour for next season!

Julien Macdonald

Hosted at the Goldsmiths Hall, the Julien Macondald AW17 show was all kinds of glamour. His main squeeze being model Winnie Harlow who closed the show, he also pulled in several other up and coming names, including HFM Fashion Spin star, Leomie Anderson. As celebrity designer and dresser of the likes of Emily Ratajkowski and Beyonce, Julien brought all the glitz to Day 2 of LFW. His figure-hugging dresses and jumpsuits featured cut out detailing, as well as sheer panelling with luxe fabrics and, of course, sequins!

Markus Lupfer

Markus Lupfer’s presentation, hosted at the top of the Blue Fin building with panoramic views of London, was an ode to individualism. Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s famous quote: 'Be yourself, everyone else is taken', the AW17 collection included a compilation of contrasting and complimenting colours, textures and styles. Pretty dresses and feminine blouses with hand-drawn, floral and blue patterns, mixed with shimmering metallic complimented the models' fresh faced make up and simple, slicked back hair for a very fresh approach. Another designer keeping with the bomber jacket for next season, Lupfer recommends ’mixing it up’ when layering for the perfect individual look. Long time fans of the brand Nicola Roberts, Vanessa Hudgens and Donna Air were all in attendance.

Camilla Elphick

Camilla Elphick’s AW17 collection was a Surreal Shoe Soiree inspired by Salvador Dali’s Surrealist’s Cookbook. The feast for feet, hosted at L’Escargot in Soho, displayed Camillla’s signature high heels in amongst (and on, in some cases) the most fanciful of foods. Some of the shoe designer’s playful designs for next season featured an avocado motif and embroidered kale leaves in amongst towering cakes and colourful jellies.

Henry Holland

Hosted at the Topshop space in the Tate Modern, the House of Holland show was just as fun as his Woody Woodpecker capsule designs. Set to classic hits from the likes of Dolly Parton, the retro throwback Daddy, Where’s My Car! collection featured large motifs, graphic, clashing prints and bright colours. Again we were seeing oversized, flared and ruffle detailing on sleeves and trousers but this time with a hint of western cowboy, just like with Ashley Williams. You may have also noticed the perfect pairing of Hattie Stewart’s fun-loving illustrations on several of the designs, as well as the car freshener invitation!

Maybelline Official Sponsor party

Hosted in West London, one of the official sponsors of London Fashion Week, Maybelline, offered mini bottles of prosecco (complete with straw) and even had tiny burgers for the fashion crowd and, of course, a photo booth! Zara Martin was just one of the DJs looking stunning in a blue off-the-shoulder Fendi dress. Hosted by Jourdan Dunn and Adriana Lima the party was bustling late into the night with fashion crowds including Tinie Tempah, Pandemonia and fashion entrepreneur Xenia Tchoumi, to name a few!
