Topshop taps Burberry's Paul Price as CEO

Topshop has named Burberry's Paul Price as its new chief executive officer. The high street retailer's owner Philip Green has tapped Price, who worked as chief merchandising officer at luxury label Burberry, to head up his business, taking over from Mary Homer.

Price worked at Burberry for over 10 years, helming womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and accessories, while Homer worked with Green for three decades before announcing her departure to join The White Company earlier this year.

"I believe Paul will be a great catalyst in leading the next phase of Topshop and Topman's global expansion," Green, who runs Arcadia Group, said in a statement.

Karren Brady, who recently took up the role of non-executive chairman of Taveta Investments, the parent company of Arcadia, added she was "delighted that Paul will be joining the team and I am very much looking forward to a new and exciting period for Topshop/Topman."

Price will begin his role on 4 September.

Homer announced her departure in March, with Green commenting that both she and Topshop have achieved a lot during her time at the company.

The fashion executive also shared some words, describing her career at the brand as a "huge part" of her life.

"There's never a right time to go but this opportunity came along," she said of leaving to run homewares and fashion at The White Company.

"The White Company has so much opportunity and I wanted to be part of that. It was a difficult decision because Topshop is a great business."
