Clare Waight Keller has channelled women's "seductive" nature in her debut Givenchy campaign. The fashion designer joined the luxury label as artistic director in March and has now unveiled her first advertisements in her new role.

Photographer Steven Meisel shot the campaign, titled Transformation Seduction, and Waight Keller tapped models Saffron Vadher, Meghan Roche, Elias Bouremah and Kolton Bowen to pose in the black and white snaps with cats.

It was founder Hubert de Givenchy's appreciation of the animals, as seen in a silk print of a cat from 1953, that inspired Waight Keller to focus on felines too.

"I love the simplicity of these portraits and the engaging directness of the subjects' gaze," Waight Keller said in a statement of the photos, which sees each model looking into the lens while wearing pieces from the brand's latest line and holding a cat.

"It evokes the bold, powerful and very graphic quality Hubert de Givenchy gave to everything he designed. I love the idea of a woman with a feline air. A person may seem slightly reserved, but they have that serene, straightforward gaze. They're seductive. You want to meet them, know more about them, and be like them."

Further explaining she aimed to play with the "modern attitude and expression" of women through the photos, the fashionista added it reflects Givenchy's "current evolution".

Waight Keller is set to show her first collection during the spring/summer 18 shows in September, which will also be the first line since former leader Riccardo Tisci left in February after 12 years at the top.

"To me, Givenchy is a world where women and men alike are strong, stoic and mysterious. They own their power, and share it equally," Waight Keller added of the new campaign.
