Stella McCartney's retail expansion is "fundamental" to boosting the strength of her label. The British designer recently opened her second store in Paris, eight years after opening the doors of her first shop in the city, while her original New York SoHo store remains a popular destination.

Stella McCartney plans to open more stores across the globe

As the brand continues to grow, McCartney is set to add an additional three stores in the near future; a second in the Big Apple's Madison Avenue, one in Florence, Italy, and another in South Coast Plaza mall in Costa Mesa, California. The new stores will mean she operates 51 freestanding boutiques.

"Some of these cities are so personal to me," McCartney gushed to WWD, describing the Madison Avenue space as a "dream" come true as she's spent so much time in New York having had an American mother. "It feels like such an achievement for us, I'm so proud of all of us that we have that store."

Frederick Lukoff, chief executive officer of Stella McCartney, added that the new stores are part of a key growth strategy. "The opening of these new shops in these four key locations is fundamental to accelerate the strength of our brand and allows our current and future customers further accessibility to the Stella McCartney brand," he shared.

There will also be a new design concept to the new branches, reflecting the 45-year-old designer's own ethical outlook by using "sustainable and environmentally friendly" textures with a modern, contemporary twist. She selected all the furniture first hand too, either commissioning designers to make them or buying them at auctions.

"I really wanted our customers to have an emotional reaction to the textures in the store, and not only respond to the product but also to respond to its environment," McCartney noted.
