Ray-Ban is bringing back Julia Roberts' favourite sunglasses

by hellofashion.com /

When it comes to sunglasses, you’ll struggle to find a label more iconic than Ray-Ban. Worn by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and more recently, Gigi Hadid, the effortlessly cool frames are as sought-after now as they were when the brand arrived on the scene in the 1930’s. Now, the luxury eyewear brand is introducing the third edition of Ray-Ban Reloaded and bringing back the much-loved Meteor style - a favourite with Julia Roberts.

STORY: Take a look at how Julia Roberts and Rihanna wore the same dress in very different ways

A brand that goes hand in hand with celebrity culture, Ray-Ban has never been afraid of pushing the boundaries when it comes to both design and social commentary. Reloaded brings past collections back to life for just a few short days, and this time around it’s the Meteor, a satisfyingly wearable take on the classic Wayfarer style with a notable 60’s influence.

When the label launched the Wayfarer frames in 1952, they soon became an instantly recognisable fashion accessory. Audrey Hepburn wore them with a Givenchy dress and a pearl necklace in the celebrated 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and legendary bluesman Bob Dylan was rarely seen without a pair on. In recent days, everyone from Michelle Obama to Angelina Jolie have been spotted wearing Ray-Bans. Kate Middleton even stepped out in the brand’s Wayfarer Folding Classic style during the New Zealand leg of the Royal Tour in 2014.

Julia Roberts has rocked the brand’s Caravan frames and the Aviator Classic pair in the past but it’s the Meteor shape that the leading actress couldn’t get enough of. Just the thing for pairing with roughed-up denim and oversized shirts at the weekend or with sundresses and espadrilles on balmier days, if they’re good enough for Julia, they’re good enough for us.

A very limited quantity of the Ray-Ban Meteor will be exclusively available in selected flagship stores and on Ray-Ban.com from April 10th to April 15th 2017.
