How to look after your clothes

Share this:

We save up our hard-earned pennies for amazing items of clothing that we’ve been coveting for ages. But how do you make sure that beloved new piece stands the test of time? By making sure you care for it properly…

But how? You need to follow some rules, which we’ve listed below, and use great products. A new premium laundry brand called Verve just launched, and is the official garment care supplier of London Fashion Week – it offers a range of products to help your precious wardrobe last as long as possible…

Denim

Washing

Ok this sounds extreme, but you shouldn’t ever wash your jeans. There’s no way round it – it ruins them. But if they’re feeling dirty and starting to smell, put them in the freezer. If you absolutely have to wash your jeans, turn them inside out, wash on a cold cycle and hang out to dry.

Storing

Hang up your jeans on trouser hangers – denim needs to breathe.

Knitwear

Washing

It’s best to stick to a gentle cycle in cold water so that there’s no shrinking. The Verve Fabric Serum helps maintain the shape of clothing and keeps them looking new – put 10ml into your washing machine drawer when you wash your jumpers.

Storing

Fold your jumpers – putting them on hangers ruins their shape.

Gym gear

Washing

Put them inside out and stick in a cold wash cycle with other synthetic fibres.

Storing

Either fold or hang.
