London Fashion Week: The designers to look out for at the AW17 shows

Share this:

With just a couple of weeks until London Fashion Week gets underway, our attention has turned to some of the designers who will be showcasing their AW17 collections across the capital.

While designers including Emilia Wickstead, Roksanda and Ashish will all be making their return to LFW, they will be joined by a wave of fresh talent making their Fashion Week debut. Here are five of the top ones to watch…

Molly Goddard

When: 2pm, 18 February

Where: Topshop Show Space

Why: This up-and-coming designer has already earned legions of fans over the past couple of years and won the British Emerging Talent Award at the 2016 Fashion Awards. Now she looks set to become even more widely recognised thanks to her capsule footwear collection with Topshop and upcoming show at the Topshop Show Space, after being a part of the retailer's NewGen initiative for the past 18 months.

Faustine Steinmetz

When: 11.30-1pm, 18 February

Where: Topshop Show Space

Why: Another recipient of BFC NewGen sponsorship, Faustine Steinmetz will showcase her AW17 collection in a presentation at the Topshop Show Space on Saturday 18 February. The British designer set up her own label in 2013 after working with designers including Jeremy Scott, and has quickly become known for her intricate hand-loomed denim pieces which she says are made in accordance with her belief in craftsmanship over trend.

Eudon Choi

When: 1pm, 17 February

Where: BFC Show Space

Why: Now in his fifth year at London Fashion Week, Eudon Choi is known for his designs which typically centre on chic tailoring and loose-fitting separates that are both experimental-yet-wearable. The Korean-born fashion designer utilises his background in menswear to create innovative womenswear designs, and we can't wait to see what he has to offer for AW17.

Shrimps

When: 1.30-3.30pm, 20 February

Where: BFC Presentation Space

Why: Even if you haven't heard of Shrimps yet, chances are you will have seen some of the designs from the brand on the likes of Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth and Liv Tyler. Created by British designer Hannah Weiland, Shrimps is loved by the fashion crowd for its fun and colourful faux fur designs – from coats to accessories. Expect more of the same for AW17.

Richard Malone

When: 9.30-11.30am, 21 February

Where: BFC Presentation Space

Why: Richard Malone has been named as "one-to-watch" by the British Fashion Council, and will be showing his AW17 designs in a presentation on the final day of LFW, having previously been a part of the Fashion East show. The designer has been praised for his approach to designing his collections, saying that he wants his designs to be practical, comfortable and machine washable rather than presenting pieces that look good on the runway but can't be worn in real life.

London Fashion Week takes place from 17-21 February.
