The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, is known for giving sartorial nods to her host countries on her official tours. The royal wore a maple leaf adornment for Canada's National Day, sported a cowgirl hat at the Calgary Stampede and for her trip to Singapore in 2012, Kate wore a kimono-style dress featuring a De Gournay orchid, the flower most closely associated with the country. Now, the Duchess has been spotted sporting a kilt and coat by Scottish designer Christopher Kane for a trip to Scotland with her husband Prince William.

Kate looked effortlessly chic in the royal blue number

Arriving in Dundee after spending Thursday night in St. Andrews, the town where the couple first met, Kate looked typically elegant in her royal blue coat belted at the waist. She paired the number with black, knee-high boots and a black clutch bag.Kate also showed off her skill at diplomatic dressing earlier this week when she attended her first ever state banquet that was being held in honour of the Chinese President Mr Xi JinPing. The Duchess turned to her favourite designer Jenny Packham to dress her for the formal occasion, paying tribute to her guests' home country with the colour of her bespoke gown - red is not only the colour of China's flag but an important colour in their culture, symbolising good fortune and joy.

Kate and William's trip to Dundee will focus on mental health in young people. The issue holds a special place in Kate's heart: the doting mum to Prince George and Prince Charlotte has previously spoken about the need to provide early support to children, and earlier this month Kate celebrated World Mental Health day.
