Victoria Beckham lands top nomination at British Fashion Awards

Victoria Beckham's place in the top tier of the fashion industry has been cemented. The 41-year-old is one of the three candidates nominated for this year's prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.Victoria has twice previously won the Brand of the Year award – in 2011 and 2014 – but this is the first time that she has received a nomination in the leading category.

It's a huge accolade for the star; the British Fashion Awards are frequently dubbed the Oscars of the fashion world – and the Womenswear Designer of the Year award is the most sought-after of the event.Victoria is up against Scotland-born Christopher Kane and JW Anderson, a trailblazer in gender neutral fashion, who subsequently has also been named as a nominee in the Menswear Designer category. Should Victoria win the trophy, she will join an impressive rosta of winners including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Sarah Burton, Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano.

The four Best Brand nominees this year have been named as Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry and Stella McCartney, while Red Carpet contenders are Christopher Kane, Erdem, Roksanda and Tom Ford.Model of the Year – which was last year won by Cara Delevingne - will be decided between Georgia May Jagger, Jourdan Dunn and Malaika Firth.The British Fashion Awards will take place at the London Coliseum on 23 November, and will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.
