Following the news that Kendall Jenner is the new face of cosmetics giant Estée Lauder, fellow model and brand ambassador Joan Smalls, 26, caught up with the 19-year-old to talk all things beauty and fashion. "I was so excited," revealed Kendall, describing the moment she found out she had landed the campaign, which further propels her to supermodel status. "I found out backstage in Paris and they told me I couldn't say anything. So I saw the text and I was like, 'Oh my god! I have to keep this to myself.' When I got to my room I started freaking out."

The Keeping up with the Kardashians star's rise to one of fashion's most-wanted models has been swift, with the American beauty making her catwalk debut for shows including Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Givenchy. However, Kendall revealed to Joan that she is already feeling increasingly comfortable on high fashion runways. "I had done Marc Jacobs before and I wasn't really nervous for that," she admitted, describing her second Fashion Week season.

"I was more excited. But I was nervous when I got to Paris because I did my first show in heels, and I had a long dress on that I was afraid I would trip over." Joan, who has collaborated on a line of lipsticks with Estée Lauder, also asked Kendall if her sisters, including Kim Kardashian, had given her any beauty advice. "Randomly enough, my older sisters went to a make-up school when they were younger," revealed Kendall. "So they're all really good at it. They've always told me that 'natural is better'."

However, it seems that  the young model looks to style icons outside of her family for inspiration, as Joan asked her to reveal her biggest beauty icons. "Angelina Jolie," said Kendall. "She's just ridiculously beautiful. And then I really love Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's style, and I love Rihanna. I feel like she kills it all the time."

It's not the first time this week that Kendall has spoken candidly about her growing status as one of fashion's most recognisable faces. The reality TV star appeared on Good Morning America on Monday where she revealed that modelling had always been her dream. "I would always be looking at these supermodels who were so amazing to me, they were like superheroes," she revealed. "I want to be the best role model I can be to a little girl or to a little boy or to anybody." However, Kendall remains adamant that she is trying to break away from her family's fame and not use it to help her achieve her dreams. "In reality I worked hard for this. It's not like I just got it magically."
