While George and Amal said "I do" on Saturday 27 September at the seven-star Aman Canal Grande hotel, to legally become man and wife under Italian law the couple had to partake in a civil ceremony.
The short affair took place at the Ca'Farsetti, a 14th-century palazzo that houses Venice's town hall.
Wearing a white Stella McCartney trouser suit and matching hat, Amal channelled Bianca Jagger at her wedding to Mick in 1971. Amal, who had been spotted touching down in Milan airport with the Stella McCartney bag, oozed elegance as she signed the wedding register and officially became Mrs Clooney.
