Peter Kay is making a return to the live stage! In late 2017, the 46-year-old comedian cancelled all his future work projects due to "unforeseen family circumstances". But he is now making a comeback with a Dance For Life charity show tour beginning in the spring. The six dance-a-thon shows will take place in London, Liverpool and Manchester in April and May to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. Peter previously hosted 14 three-hour Dance For Life events before having to cancel the tour. "I've honestly never had so much fun as I had working on Dance For Life," the star said in a statement. "The atmosphere was so happy and positive; it really is a great way to raise money for the worthiest of causes… All people have to do is turn up and dance."

The show will see ticket holders take to the dance floor with Peter on the decks as ‘DJ PK’. He was due to host a number of his dance-a-thon events in early 2018 in Coventry, Liverpool and Manchester but they were called off in December 2017, along with his other future commitments. In 2018, he appeared in the finale of his BBC TV show Car Share, but has not appeared live since.

In his 2017 statement, Peter detailed his regret at cancelling more than 100 shows across Britain and Ireland: "Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects… My sincerest apologies," he said. "This decision has not been taken lightly and I'm sure you'll understand my family must always come first." He added that he had "always endeavoured to protect [his] family's privacy from the media".

Not much is known about Peter's private life. He has been married to wife Susan Gargan since 2001, and it's thought they have two children together – in interviews, he frequently refers to more than one child. Speaking shortly after the birth of his first son, Peter told the Mirror: "Fatherhood has changed me - it has to change you. It makes you much more aware of the minutiae of life, it's not about your needs anymore, it’s about everyone else's."
